Week 6

The best laid plans…we had to pivot and change some if our plans this week because Joshua went thru a slight fear period.  This is a totally normal part of development and they have another sensitive period around 8 weeks.

What did this mean for the litter?  Well, we backed off from planned big activities like baths, car rides, and going outside.  We replaced those activities such as learning to take a treat, learning how to leave the safety of their pen and walk to another area for mealtime and playtime, and barrier challenges such as putting an obstacle in their path.

Joshua moved thru the fear period as expected and now we’re resuming big activities such as bath, car rides, and outings.  We have maintained a rigorous schedule of sound desensitization, novel visitors, playtime with the other members of our pack, and exposure to important husbandry protocols.  Make sure you’re keeping an eye on our YouTube channel for videos of these important experiences!

Important upcoming dates:
*11/10…Vet visit for exams and first shots
*11/12…Visit with my trainer
*11/15…Outing to a local youth group for playtime and cuddles
